Work on 12 projects in Luohu District would start in September to renovate the city’s oldest district which had been overshadowed by rapid development in Futian and Nanshan in recent years, a news conference was told Wednesday.

The 12 projects costing 23.9 billion yuan (US$3.68 billion) would include the renovation of industrial and residential areas as well as building government-subsidized apartments.

The areas involved are Xicun and Xilingxia villages, the Teli Gmond Industrial Zone, Qing-shuihe International Vehicle Logistics Industrial Park, Ying-long Village, Huangbeiling, Luohu No. 2 High-tech Industrial Park, Shenzhen Internet Industrial Park, Yinhu Lanshan Project, Shuibei International Jewelry Plaza, Shenye Qingshuihe Modern Logistics Distribution Center, and Shenye Logistics Center.

Planning was under way for the renovation of Jinzuan Residential Estate on Taining Road, Hongji Xunda Industrial Zone, Liantang No. 7 Industrial Zone, and Tefa Gold and Jewelry Industrial Center.

These projects would cost 17.5 billion yuan.

“These renovations will provide more space for public use,” said Liu Xueqiang, Party chief of Luohu District.
